Weekend Update

Friday - Saw "Casino Royale" at the Legends 14 Theatre. I highly recommend the VIP lounge there for movie viewing, and since we rarely go out to the movies anyway, it has rather easily become our new favorite spot for 'date' movies. I watched James Bond while drinking a martini! As for the film itself, lots of other nifty people have reviewed it, so I shan't bother with a long one here. Just this: Loved it! Daniel Craig makes a brilliant Bond and the film stuck really close to the novel story and included all of the heart-stopping moments that I remember from the first time I read the book, as well as adding in some nifty extra twists of its own. YAY!

Saturday - Went Thanksgiving food shopping in the morning, and to the Chess Match Cast Party in the evening. Did housework and made dinner in between those two things. Quite a nice way to spend a Saturday, and the party had a very nice energy to it - more good vibes than bad, as it were. Loverly, all in all.

Sunday - Slept late. Lounged around the house. Left briefly to enjoy brunch at IHOP, followed by a leisurely visit to Half-Price Books for the acquisition of new-to-us DVDs and books. Went home, lounged some more while watching Dexter, An American Haunting and Silent Hill - which, by the way, is a really good movie - it skyrocketed past our lowered expectations due to the whole "based on a video game" thing straight into "worth paying to see it in the theatre" status. Just a fantastic piece of cinema, including the fact that most of the special effects and camera angles were physical effects, not CGI.

I really like weekends like this. Very nice mix of seeing friends and just us. I'd like more of these, thanks. :)
