Going back to high school

Because I needed a break from searching for work and feeling glum.
What year was it?
Entered in 1986, exited in 1989
What were your three favorite bands or musical artists?
Duran Duran, The Cure, Suzanne Vega and whatever band my friend Tim was playing in at the time. (Yes, I know that's four.)
What was your favorite outfit?
Jeans, black or not, sometimes with rips, tall black boots, a t-shirt or poet shirt, and my Dad's old field jacket (I inherited the plain OD one after the military went camo.)
What was up with your hair?
Think Ally Sheedy in the Breakfast Club but longer - I looked like I couldn't see.
Who were your best friends?
Sarah, Holly, Renee and Tim the First - Still friends with three out of four
Where did you work?
Telemarketing, briefly, then George's Hobby Hell in Lawrence
Did you take the bus?
Nope. 1966 Dodge Valiant
Who did you have a crush on?
No one in high school. I had exactly one boyfriend per year. My crushes were reserved strictly for the famous and therefore unattainable.
Did you fight with your parents?
Of course. Esp. senior year, when I was dating a college junior. Go figure.
Did you smoke cigarettes?
Yes. Perhaps five, total.
Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack because you were too nervous to find your locker?
Nope.
Did you have a 'clique'?
Not one that stayed in school. The majority of the people I considered friends had "voluntarily exited" school by the time I graduated. During school hours, I was part of the "Art" crowd, ate lunch with the "Brainy-geeks" and occasionally hung out with the theatre kids. I also, for some reason, had a small troupe of individuals who would come to me regularly for advice and comfort, despite the fact that we rarely spoke otherwise. I was either a good listener, or was putting up a really good front of having it all together. After hours, I was usually with the friends who had dropped-out, playing D&D and going to local concerts and parties to see their bands.
Did you have "The Max" like Zach Kelly and Slater?
I'm with
gmskarka. Huh???
Admit it, were you popular?
If we are going by what middle America defines as high-school popular with cheerleading, sports and school offices, then no. Of course at the time, I don't remember caring one way or the other. Then as now, the only opinions that mattered to me were from a small, select group of people. If the rest of the school population had disappeared, it's unlikely I would have noticed. I think I was well-liked among the groups I associated with, but "popular", no.
Who did you want to be just like?
Morticia Addams. That lady's got class AND style.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
Author. Famous. Wealthy...still working on it.
Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now?
Without bringing age into it, I'd always pictured myself as a fabulously wealthy writer (little did I know the truth about that - Hah!), living in a keep in the Scottish Highlands with occasional forays to London, Paris and NYC when'ere I got bored.
