KU WPA = WTF?!!!

Nice to see that the current KU campus Wiccan Pagan Alliance is every bit as on top of things as the one I remember from my own student years. While I applaud the fact that there is one, it's still fully capable of providing some genuine *facepalm* moments...
KU Wiccan Pagan Alliance will celebrate Samhain this Saturday. Yes, that's right. Saturday. You'll just love the quotes, too.
Samhain
My favorite is this one:
"“Samhain is a celebration of the turning of the year, so technically this is our ‘New Year'. It is the time when the distance between the living world and the dead is at its thinnest, which allowed the dead to join the living for celebrations."
-Rebecca Kershner, WPA member and Overland Park junior
Umm, excuse me miss, but if it's 'your' New Year celebration, doesn't that make about as much sense as celebrating the secular New Year's Eve a week after it happens?
I could be wrong - there could be some Easter-esque calendar manipulation going on that I'm unaware of that means you can move Samhain around at will...or not...
*EDIT* I stand corrected, as there is an Easter-esque calendar manipulation going on - so much for buying into the collective-agreement principle of Sabbats. Also, I obviously have an extreme anti-Johnson-County-kids-are-idiots bias left-over from my high school days...my apologies. ;D Ah well.
