KCRF Weekend 4 (or The "Wednesday" Weekend, as the teenager calls it)

Lowlights
Saturday: Such a day; rum all out. Our company somewhat sober; a damned confusion amongst us! Too little sleep. Talk of too much bawdiness during Last Huzzah. Song cut. So [livejournal.com profile] gmskarka looked sharp for a fight and took one with a great deal of public comment aboard. So kept the entertainment staff hot under the collar, damned hot, then all things went badly. Skarka fired. Spent day under cloud of gloom. Boo.

Sunday: Wiped from previous days stress. Ladybug in cleavage during chess match show, unable to dig it out due to being in front of large crowd of people, so it crawled under my breast inside the bodice and tickled abominably for the entire run of the chess match. Very glad they don't bite!

In general, our individual performances and cohesion as a lane act was totally blown by the stress of Saturday.

Highlights
Gareth did not remain fired, as the staff reconsidered and allowed him to rectify the situation by apologizing to both cast and crew on Sunday morning, which he did graciously. Yay!

Some of the best pictures that have been taken of us all season, or in my case, ever, I think, were taken this weekend. See my new icon as evidence. Apparently, stress makes you HAWT! Who knew?

The weather threatened to be rainy and freezing, but turned out to be neither.

It is very nice to be surrounded by the comfort of friends under stressful circumstances.

General notes:
I have also discovered that Veronica should be more of a "painted" painted cat, so her make-up for the final three weekends will be more dramatic.

After much reading and research, I have finally realized that Veronica Franco's actual poetry simply does not lend itself to sound bites in the lanes. But Dorothy Parker works very well, and her biting wit is actually very much in the spirit of many of the longer poems that VF composed, so I have started playing Veronica as inhabited by Dorothy. No, it's not period. Deal. Thbbt!

In other news:

I visited with my friend Holly and her mother last night, and we have designed the wedding cake, which they are making as a gift for us. Very nice to have another things checked off the "To Do" list. It took a couple of hours to design, facilitated by the fact that all three of us are familiar with wedding cake structure and decoration, but it's a bit scary to think about what it must be like when the bride/groom has no clue what goes into this sort of thing. Yikes!

Car update: They fixed it, and it's running just fine now. Yes, it cost $790 bucks to fix, and the mechanics were all fairly shocked by the fact that the rack and pinion had gone out, as apparently that isn't something that happens to Corolla's, like, ever. Mine would have to be bloody unique. Sigh.
