NPR this morning...
Jan. 18th, 2008 10:49 amNPR: Hey, did you know Bobby Fisher died yesterday?
Me: Why yes, NPR, I had heard that.
NPR: Yes, but did you know that he's dead?
Me: Yes, thanks for the information.
NPR: But he died.
Me: Yes, I know, thank you.
NPR: Were you aware that he defeated Boris Spassky in 1972 in a chess match watched by the entire world?
Me: Oddly, yes, but thanks anyway.
NPR: And that he was a lunatic anti-American anti-semitic weirdo who died in Iceland?!?!?!?!
Me: Yes. Yes. Yes, annnnd yes. Even more so now. *clicks radio off*
And that was just from the half-hour I spent in the car this morning. Good times. *sigh*
