Letter assigned by
wgptreyRapiers: Because they’re the best blade around for swashbuckling.
Reincarnation: I prefer the idea that souls get more than one go-round on the wheel to learn all the lessons that they need to, be it as human, plant or animal. Eternity just seems like a rather harsh judgment for an average of 75-80 years of behavior.
Renaissance: Both as a time period and a festival experience. It’s a floor wax and a dessert topping! Seriously though, I love the clothes, the politics, the intrigue and the creativity of the historical period, and as
chernobylred has said, Renaissance Festivals are all of those things gathered up and dispensed through a cheese-wiz can.
Robin Hood: Childhood literary crush. Never got over it. I like that he is both a folk hero and a Green Man.
Roe vs. Wade: Court case with a decision that allowed women to function as full-fledged human beings in charge of their own bodies. I’m for that.
Rogues: I can admit it because I’m not Princess Leia.
Role-playing games: I’ve had a lot of fun and made a lot of friends through table-top role-playing games over the years. They encourage research and socialization. And I first met
gmskarka because of RPGs. What’s not to love?
Romana I: Portrayed by Mary Tamm. (See the icon I used for this post as a reference. Thank you
gamera_spinning for the iconage.) She's smarter than the Doctor and better at being a Time Lord. Also, she's a tall, attractive brunette. Of course I wanted to grow up to be just like her. Role-models are important.
Rooks: (Corvus frugilegus) Birds resembling large ravens. I was first introduced to them as emissaries of the Dark in Susan Cooper’s
Dark is Rising series, and I just thought they sounded scary and a bit cool.
Roses: They’re pretty, they smell nice, and they feature in two of my favorite faerie tales,
Beauty and the Beast and
Tam Lin.
If you’d like to play, leave a comment. I’ll give you a letter. Then you post ten words beginning with that letter in your journal and explain why they're important enough to make the cut.
