Sorry about the uncontrollable screaming
Apr. 12th, 2007 11:14 amBut this is in the news today, and I really need to hit something. Perhaps the legislator from South Carolina who introduced the bill.
( South Carolina May Require Ultrasounds Before Abortions )
The quotes that piss me off as much as they frighten me: "Proponents say women would change their minds after seeing an ultrasound and choose instead to keep the child or offer it for adoption." and "Democratic state Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter said she expects the legislation to pass because even lawmakers who don't like the bill will be afraid to vote against it.
The intent of the bill is to require women to look at ultrasound pictures on the day they are in for the actual abortion. Like they think that every woman who makes that choice is some kind of uninformed, callous bitch whose life circumstances will be changed by seeing the pictures. Fury doesn't quite cover my reaction to this.
NPR also had a piece on this story today, and they mentioned that Missouri is considering a similar bill. Maybe I'll just wait and hit one of their legislators, instead.
