Diagnosis: Werewolf
Sep. 28th, 2005 09:22 amI went to see my new rheumatologist yesterday to discuss the results of all the testing she had ordered for me, and had it confirmed once again. Yep, I still have lupus. Which is what the doctor that I used to see in Queens had diagnosed me with after about eight years of being treated for rheumatoid arthritis, but since I have been off the medical boards for the last two years (ah, temp work with no insurance sucks!), she wanted to confirm the diagnosis. And my blood work has always been confusing, because as
gmskarka likes to say, I can't make things easy. So I'm back on a schedule of medication and monthly bloodwork and check-ups. Whee fun! In the long run, though, it's probably better than changing into a wolf every time the moon is full. Or not.
In other news, today marks the end of my six-month "probationary" period here at the library, which means I am now a permanent full-time employee. Yay! I pretty much knew what to expect from my review, but after my bad experience with the School of Ed, I had more then a few butterflies in my stomach while waiting for the final word. Getting fired can really shake your confidence in your own abilities. But, as it turns out, my abilities are still intact. Go me.
And in order to be able to focus better on some of my other skills, like writing, I have also begun the long slow process of un-burying our household from the mountains of paperwork that have built up around us. We have spent too many moves just shoving old school records, story amoebas and other miscellaneous crap into boxes and hauling it with us from place to place. It's all going to get culled and put into organized files, dammit!
