Flotsam and Jetsam Life Update

Began preparations for the visit of [livejournal.com profile] gmskarka's parental units and two other kids by scrubbing the kitchen within an inch of its life on Saturday. Now it looks all shiny and bright except for the floor, which will get done sometime this week. Yay.

Star's party on Saturday was lovely. I really love spending time with so many fantastic people. More, more!

Slept quite late on Sunday, because I'm "old" and was out until 4 am the night before, then went to the Manor for our first actual game session in the world of [livejournal.com profile] thedarkbear. I've missed playing straight up D&D and I didn't even know it. It's very nice to be back. We used miniatures and everything. :)

Nothing much happened on Monday, except the snow. And since I had to pick the teenager up from school, I took the rest of the afternoon off work and spent some time in my sewing room, catching up on the overflowing basket of mending that stares at me every time I walk past it. I think some of the things in there have started to develop language skills.

And we finally watched "Alexander" on DVD. It was better than I had been led to expect, although with the amount of history that they tried to squeeze into a three hour film, I can see why it wasn't really a hit with the public. I did think that giving all of the Macedonians Irish accents so that they sounded like Collin Farrell was a nice touch. And I almost stayed up to watch "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" because I love listening to Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe engaging in witty/breathy banter, but it was late, so Iwent to bed instead. I think I might need to own that one on DVD at some point.

That's all for now.
